Hannah Banana

Hannah will celebrate her 8th birthday tomorrow, August 18th. It was pretty much a birthday weekend all around for her. On Saturday evening Grandma Cindy and I took her shopping. It was a lot of fun. She picked out a brand new Hannah Montana bedroom set for her room. Very, very cool! I'm also pretty certain that she talked Grandma Cindy into buying her everything "Hannah Montana" that Walmart has to offer! (Not really). Next it was on to the mall to visit Build-A-Bear Workshop. Every time we are at the mall she begs to go here, so I figured what better time than a birthday. She was so excited to pick her little bear (actually it's a pink leopard), stuff it, give it a sound, bathe it, and, of course, accessorize. She got to pick two outfits, one of which was a very cool Hannah Montana (go figure) get-up, and also some jammies. The bear/leopard got its very own bed and cell phone and even a tiny little pair of Hello Kitty underpants. Oh brother! We then visited a cute new store called Justice for Girls and Grandma helped her pick a new outfit for school. After that it was off to TGIFridays for some grub. YUMMY!!!

Sunday afternoon we headed off to the Fitzhughs' for a quiet little BBQ and swimming. It was the perfect way to spend the day and I'm pretty sure that Hannah had a blast. Of course, since tomorrow is her actual real B-day Hannah will be served chocolate chip teddy bear pancakes in bed. Oh man, it's a good thing birthday's only come once a year!!!

(FYI: All of this spoiling was done in lieu of an actual birthday party!!!)

Quick Update

So I have found myself with just a really quick spare minute and thought I would try to do some catching up. We have had such a fun, jam-packed summer that there's no way I could blog about it all. The pictures above are random, as I have yet to figure out exactly how to do words/picture/words/picture, etc. My motto this summer has been "Work hard to play hard," and we have definitely been following it for sure. The kids and I spend most every weekday at home with me working my butt off and them doing their own things. I have really been trying not to leave the house unless absolutely necessary to save on gas and the all-too-easy fast food joints. Then the weekend comes and we are outta here. We have spent 6 weekends at Silverwood camping with Christy's family. SO MUCH FUN. I think we will also be going on Labor Day weekend as well. Can't wait. It's fun to get the camping aspect along with the amusement park.

Some of the pics are from the other day when I did venture out of the house one morning. I took the kids over to a little spray park and they had so much fun climbing the trees that I couldn't resist snapping some pictures. Noah actually surprised me and gave me some smiles. *Gasp*

I also included just a few of the pics from when we went to the air show with Mindi and her kids and Michelle. That was so much fun and such a learning experience. Very, very cool.
